My Messed Up Imagination

First things first, a couple of blogs back I recommended a band called "A Skylit Drive", and I couldn't get their PureVolume page up because the site was being crap. Well http://www.purevolume.com/askylitdrive - there it is, I have been listening to "Eva The Carrier" and have come to the conclusion that it is a woman who is singing, I just can't find her name anywhere. Balls.

I have a pretty weird obsession with bands fronted by women, Paramore, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Hole, No Doubt and Garbage to name but a few, not The Gossip though.....*shudders at the mere thought of Beth Ditto*. Now I have a new one, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1dMYxGrSLZg - Florence and the Machine, this song in particular is just brilliant, the chorus is amazing and her voice is just stunning. They also do a pretty awesome version of You've Got The Love - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mc_yClYwHfk&feature=related, I love my Eclectic music taste =D.

If anyone has been following the news on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, they should know by now that they will be releasing a Prestige Edition to the game which will include the game in its Collectors Edition for with a special box and what should be a pretty awesome Art book with some kick ass graphic in, but the thing I am most excited about is the fact it will come will "fully functioning" Night Vision Goggles.....
http://www.engadget.com/2009/07/13/modern-warfare-2s-prestige-edition-includes-fully-functioning/ - HOLY CRAP! That is pretty awesome. Although I have no idea of any use for them, I will find something =D. They say it is going to cost $80 (about £50 give or a take a few pennies), but I doubt that very much, you will be lucky to get your hands on this for anything less than £100. Money well spent in my opinion =P.

Some needs to explain Halo to me. Seeing as I have only really played Halo 3 and never been on the online play (stupid lack of wireless adaptor, Ethranet cables are usless), I have never got the obsession with it, the story play IMO is a bit naff, the graphics are pretty freaking cool though. I just want to know why people love it so much, but I am pretty sure it is all going to come down to online play, bring on being able to afford to get a wireless adaptor!

Now I must begone.

My Creative Outlet

You know when you see something and you wish "I wish I could do that." I just got that feeling looking at the lyrics for Brand New's album "Deja Entendu", to be more specific the song "Guernrica". How stunning is that song! actually the whole album is just a masterpiece in my opinion.

I have always tried to write lyrics, depending on moods and whatever inspiration I feel at the time, but I have never felt as if I am any good at it. I know that I am creative, and I enjoy writing because I have no other creative outlet. I am far too lazy to learn an instrument, although I had a strange dream last that I was playing along to Waste A Moment by Fightstar on an acoustic guitar, but I digress. Writing seems to be the only thing I am half good at creatively, but why is it that every time I write something that seems pretty decent at the time, ten minutes later I am scrunching up the paper it is written on and giving up. I think that is what I get for being a self doubting pessimist. I know I could try art as well, but if you had seen any attempt I have made at drawing etc you would be forgiven in thinking it was done by a five year old, who was blind, and also attempting the feat with their nose.

Moving on! Brand New are releasing a new album in September and I couldn't be more excited, Brand New are a band that signifies the benchmark for whatever Genre they are. Brilliant music, brilliant writing but the thing that sets them apart from most other bands is that they are not afraid to try something different. You look at their first album "Your Favourite Weapon", then compare it to "Deja Entendu" and "The Devil And God Are Raging Inside Me" and you tell me that each of them is not dramatically different from the last without losing that spark that Brand New have for making brilliant music. I want to go to Reading, mainly to see them as they are on my "Five bands to see before I die or they break up" list, which I am working through, there is only 3 left so I am not doing to badly. The new album should be fantastic, mainly because Jesse Lacey is worried about how people are going to receive it, as they wrote songs that they would want to play live, as opposed to writing something that other people might like to hear, to be honest, I think that if you enjoy playing something live then fans are going to appreciate it much more than if you write some radio friendly crap that no-one is going to enjoy apart from the sheep of Radio 1.

Onto other news, and I have recently seen a list of the first 24 songs to be included in GH5, which is due for release on the 1st September, and I have to say what a pile of wank! Who in their right mind would want to play a Coldplay song on Guitar Hero! The director Brian White has said "We have a lot of new indie artists as well and Iron Maiden as more classic rock or heavy metal." I'm sorry but Indie? How fun is that going to be to play... Green, Red, Yellow, Green, Red Yellow....Repeat until nauseous or your head explodes through boredom. I just can't believe they haven't included BFMV, Machinehead etc, things that would actually be challenging to play. The White Stripes and Coldplay can suck my ass.

I still want Modern Warfare, and I cannot wait to get it, Kris got me addicted when I was on the Isle of Man and I have been thinking about getting it ever since. Obviously before I dive in to online playing I will be going through the story mode first, as if you had seen how appalling I was when on the island you would of been laughing just as hard as Kris was. 3 Kills for 21 deaths isn't exactly good, although I was pleasantly surprised with the 3 kills as running around with a shotgun is considered suicide on a level that is a perfect haven for snipers. Must get better, and I will, just you watch!

Finally, I just want to say something about some things I have been seeing on T.V this week.
Torchwood = Good until the last episode. RTD you really know how to ruin something.
Robin Hood = Thank God Robin is dead, the emo faced berk
Mock the Week = Thank God you are back!
That Mitchell and Webb Look = I remember when you guys were funny
Kingdom = Damn cliffhangers
F1 = Go, Webber, Go
Cricket = England were far to lucky and the opening batsman should be ashamed of themselves. Collingwood, Anderson and Panesar you legends.

Anyways, I'll love you and leave you.

My Scrubs Like Title

Day 2 of my new and improved blog, I doubt very much I will update this thing daily, I just figure I will if I have something interesting enough to say.

Paramore are a very interesting band, I was floating around PureVolume last night and I stumbled across their new offering and I was surprised at the direction they seem to have gone in. It is a much darker song, I know they did some pretty dark stuff for the Twilight (eww) soundtrack, but it looks as if the new album will be a lot darker than what we saw on Riot and All We Know Is Falling. I couldn't be happier about it! Yeahh, Riot was awesome and that BUT for a band to survive in todays music scene, where fashion seems to change every five minutes, they need to adapt and change and it will be quite interesting to see how the new album sounds.

In other music news, before I move on, I am in love with http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Skylit_Drive - This lot, I would post you a link to the PureVolume site but it appears to be broken. It was Kris who introduced me and I have strived to listen to as much of them as I can since coming home. I advice you all to listen to Eva The Carrier and thank me later =P. Oh, and if you are wondering who the lady singer is, as far as I can tell there isn't a lady singing o_O.

Lastly, a request. Does anyone have an awesome gaming spec PC they would like to donate to me so I can start playing Warcraft again?!?! I have been constantly looking at screenshots, videos, reading up about it and I still really miss it. my sisters boyfriend, Dave, is back on it and is already at level 65, I think that was it anyway, and I need to catch up =p. Alternitavely, if anyone is a dab hand at fixing problems with laptops could they give me a shout, unfortunately the lack of employment means that I have been unable to sort it since it broke down (gotta love bluescreens) about 2 months ago, so it is currently a rather expensive paperweight.

That's about it for me today, off to watch the Australians show the English how to play Cricket.

My Revitalisation

I have figured out that whilst in theory Blogs are a very good idea, in practice they are very hard to do. I have probably tried to start this blog 8 or 9 times until I thought "sod it" and instead of thinking about it just letting my brain wander until something suitable popped into my head.

I am very unhappy with how this Blog has turned out so far, I have tried to come away from my childish ramblings on LiveJournal and Bebo but it looks as if I have got set in my ways, and for the second time I have found myself making the promise that no more shall my Blog resemble an emo teenagers blog.

To do that I figure that I will start writing about the things that interest me and turn this into a more topical, opinionated blog. The things I like being Music/Games/Sport, so basically this is going to be probably like a million other Blogs that are out there today, the difference being it's my opinion and that's the only one that I can honestly say I care about when it comes to my interests (yes, it may sound arrogant but that's your opinion =D).

The first thing I wanted to talk about is Limp Bizkit...What in fuck's name is going on there! The world, or at least I, thought they were dead and then they pop up with a set at Download and are now doing some gigs for Kerrang. People are treating them like the messiah's but as far as Nu-Metal bands go they weren't even close to being the best, they are stuck behind Korn, Slipknot, American Headcharge, Taproot, Trapt, POD, Mudvayne, Drowning Pool and even Linkin Park. Fred Durst is possibly one of the biggest tools in music as well, he is an arrogant, smug, smartarse who needs to be wiped off the face of the earth. Their music may have been the "cool" thing at the turn of the century but listening to it now makes my skin crawl, I imagine if they came out with anything new people are going to start raping them again saying they are awesome when in reality, they are Korn for Pussies.

I recently heard that Funeral For A Friend are goign to be releasing a "Greatest Hits" album in September sometime, I really don't know how to feel about this, whilst Funeral will always be my favourite band, this stinks of trying to get as much money as possible. They are a band in the prime of their career after releasing their fourth album "Memory and Humanity" late last year, and have also recently announced they will be releasing some EP's with some new tracks on them around the same time. Why in God's name are they bringing out a greatest hits album when the majority of their best songs are still in recent memory, I've seen the tracklist as well and whilst I agree with the majority of it I think that they need to take everything that was from "Tales Don't Tell Themselves" and replace them with "The Art Of American Football" and "Kiss And Make Up". Like I said, it stinks of a money making scheme and it annoys me as they never really struck me as the kind of band that would try and get as much money as possible at the expense of fans loyalty.

The last thing I want to talk about music wise is Lady GaGa. What is up with her? Whilst I will admit that Poker Face is a pretty okay song, I was listening to Radio 2 in the car (parents choice, not mine) and her new offering came on "Paparazzi" and if I wasn't told who it was by I could of sworn it was Gwen Stefani. She annoys the fuck out of me, and whilst I havn't listened to the album, I'm not sure I want to. I don't get the hype around her, she is liked by everyone and I don't know why, she sings like Gwen Stefani and Dresses like Pink, she is a clone. releasing radio freindly tacks for the masses who like to have "something a bit different" to listen to, she makes the "rock chick" image look poor. Mainly because she is a moose...

Right, finally, and I mean it this time, I am just gonna give you an indication of what I have been listening to this week in the way of a top 5 from my iTunes. I like doing this because, well, I just do. I guess it's just nice to show other people what you are liking and maybe giving some people some ideas of some new music:

5) Technically Alive - Exit Ten
4) Omen - The Prodigy
3) If It Means A Lot To You - A Day To Remember
2) War Machine - Fightstar
1) One - Eighty By Summer - Taking Back Sunday

Yeahh.....
